SACICT PROTOTYPES 2014 00 LIPAO DEVELOPMENT PROJECT An aesthetic value in craftsmanship and a minuteness of Lipao weaving are manifested due to the grace of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit who are graciously pleased to conserve and develop Lipao or Yarn Lipao weaving skill in order to be an additional career for people in the southern region, where Yan Lipao is planted abundantly under the supervision of the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations in Her Majesty Queen Sirikit since 1974 onwards. Currently, Lipoa products are popular and acceptable in the higher class of craftmanship. Due to the charm and value of Yan Lipao with natural and beautiful color, toughness and durability are chracteristics of this plant. It has been used to make many kind of appliances such as a betel nut chests, tray or baskets in many shapes from ancient times, with the skill of the artisan who are the craft heirs, so the SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International centre of Thailand (Public Organization) creates Yarn Lipoa products in variety of forms in order to expand the customer base to the new generations who are interested in the crafts with elegance and stylish but require unique identity of Thailand, especially, in handbags and jewelry categories in order to be used with the international dress that will lead to more marketing channels.
