ครูคำสอนเป็นผู้มีความคิดริเริ่มสร้างสรรค์ด้านการทอผ้า ได้พัฒนารูปแบบลวดลายให้สวยงาม ทั้งแบบดั้งเดิมและแบบสมัยนิยม และครูยังเป็นผู้คิดประดิษฐ์เขาลาย หรือตะกอลายขึ้นมา เพื่อให้คนรุ่นหลังสืบทอดการทอผ้าแพรวาได้ไม่ยาก เขาลายหมายถึงเส้นด้ายสีขาวที่ขึงไว้ตรงกลางหูก สอดค้ำด้วยไม้ที่ทำลวดลายผ้า ซึ่งทำให้สะดวกแก่การประดิษฐ์ลวดลาย ผู้ทอสามารถทอลายได้เหมือนกันทั้งผืน โดยไม่ต้องเก็บขิดลายทุกครั้งหากจะเริ่มทอผ้าในคราวต่อไป นอกจากนี้ครูยังได้คิดวิธีการทำแม่แบบลายผ้า โดยใช้วิธีจุดลายลงบนกระดาษกราฟ ทำให้เก็บขิดลายง่ายและมีความชัดเจน ถือว่าเป็นมรดกภูมิปัญญาอันล้ำค่าของชาวกาฬสินธุ์ที่ต้องอนุรักษ์ไว้สืบไป

Master Khamsorn is a very creative person who loves textile weaving. She never stops creating new patterns as well as adapting exiting patterns to be more attractive. Also, she has invented “Khao Lai” or “Takor Lai” to help the new generations to inherit Praewa weaving more easily. “Khao Lai” refers to white threads placed in the middle of the loom inserted with a piece of wood for weaving pattern which facilitates the patterning process. The weaver can weave the same pattern throughout the whole piece of cloth. In addition, the master has invented the method of making the pattern model by marking pattern on graph paper, which helps the weaver to make accurate pattern each time. Praewa textile is regarded as Kalasin’s heritage, which should be conserved and maintained.
