การทอเสื่อกกเป็นมรดกที่ปู่ย่าตายายได้สร้างไว้ให้พวกเราสานต่อ ฉันเห็นว่าแค่เพียงสานต่อคงยังไม่พอ เราควรจะพัฒนาให้เสื่อกกเข้าไปอยู่ในชีวิตประจำวันของผู้คนด้วย จึงได้รวมกลุ่มกับเพื่อน ๆ ตั้งกลุ่มสตรีทอเสื่อกกขึ้นมาและพัฒนางานคิดค้นลวดลายใหม่ขึ้นมาซึ่ง ลายที่เป็นที่ภาคภูมิใจของเรามากที่สุดคือ ลายฉัตรพิมาน และเรายังนำเสื่อไปพัฒนาทำผลิตภัณฑ์อื่น ๆ อีก เช่น กระเป๋า รองเท้า ที่รองจาน ที่รองแก้ว เสื่อบุพับได้ฟองน้ำ เป็นต้น เรารู้สึกดีใจที่มีคนสนใจเสื่อจันทบูรเพราะเราเองต้องการเผยแพร่ข้อมูลให้ชาวบ้าน และนักศึกษาที่เข้ามาเรียนรู้ มาค้นคว้าข้อมูลเพื่อทำวิทยานิพนธ์ เราถือว่านี่เป็นการเผยแพร่องค์ความรู้ให้งานเสื่อกกยกลายนี้คงอยู่ไปอย่างไม่มีวันสูญหาย

“The sedge mats are local handicraft. However, for me, it is precious. It is the wisdom that the ancestors give us for conserving and not letting it lost.”

Weaving the sedge mats is the heritage which the ancestors give us for conserving. For me I think only conserving is not enough. We should develop the sedge mats to be in our daily life as well. Therefore, I gather in group with my friends to set up the group of women weaving sedge mats and develop the works by inventing the new patterns. The pattern which we are most proud is Chatphiman pattern. Moreover, we also bring the mats to be developed into other products such as bags, shoes, plate mats, coaster, foldable sponge mats, etc. We are glad to know that there are people interested in Chantaboon mats because we also want to publicize the information to the villagers and the students to learn and research for the data in conducting the thesis. We consider this is to publicize the knowledge of Yok Lai sedge mats to exist and not to be lost.
