“จันทร์โสมา”

ความโดดเด่นของผ้าไหม “จันทร์โสมา” เกิดจากการเลือกเส้นไหมที่เล็กและบางเบา นำมาผ่านกรรมวิธีฟอก ต้ม แล้วย้อมสีธรรมชาติ ด้วยแม่สีหลัก 3 สี คือ สีแดงจากครั่ง สีเหลืองจากแก่นแกแล และสีครามจากเมล็ดคราม สอดแทรกการยกดอกด้วยไหมทองที่ทำจากเงินแท้ๆ มารีดเป็นเส้นเล็กๆ ปั่นควบกับเส้นด้าย ส่วนการทอจะใช้กี่แบบพื้นเมืองโบราณ แต่จากการออกแบบเป็นลวดลายที่ซับซ้อนแบบราชสำนักโบราณ ผสานด้วยแรงบันดาลใจจากจินตนาการของ อ.วีรธรรม ทำให้ต้องใช้ตะกอจำนวนมาก ตั้งแต่ร้อยกว่าตะกอถึงพันกว่าตะกอ จนการวางกี่บนพื้นดินธรรมดามีความสูงไม่พอ ต้องขุดหลุมลึกลงไปประมาณ 2-3 เมตร เพื่อรองรับความยาวของตะกอที่ห้อยลงมาจากกี่ให้เป็นระเบียบ และให้คนที่อยู่ในหลุมคอยสอดตะกอไม้ การออกแบบและเก็บลายจะมีเพียงครูและลูกศิษย์อีกไม่กี่คนเท่านั้นที่ทำได้ โดยชาวบ้านจะเข้ามาช่วยในการทอผ้าตามตะกอที่เก็บลายไว้ ครูได้พยายามสร้างบุคลากรรุ่นใหม่มาสืบทอดภูมิปัญญานี้ โดยนำเด็กผู้ชายในบ้านท่าสว่างมาฝึกการออกแบบ ส่วนผู้หญิงจะฝึกทักษะการทอ ให้เรียนรู้จากการทำงานกับผู้ใหญ่ให้เกิดการซึมซับจนเกิดความชำนาญ

“Hundreds and thousands of silk harness are used to weave silver threads to make the finest woven gold patterned textile “Chan Soma.”

The uniqueness of woven gold patterned textile “Chan Soma” is the selection of thing and light silk threads which are laundered, boiled and colored with natural materials of three main colors which include red obtained from shellac, yellow from Kalae core and blue from indigo seeds inserted by gold treads made of genuine silver mixed with threads. Traditional weaving method with local loom is used, yet the pattern is designed on the basis of the royal court tradition and imagination of Master Viradham. Many harnesses are needed. That is why we say hundreds or thousands of harnesses are used. The quantity of harnesses used lead to the change of loom position as it cannot be placed on the ground. A few meters deep hole is needed for supporting the hanging harnesses and a person who is in the hole inserts the wooden harnesses. Only the master and a few of his students can design the pattern. For this reason, the master has tried to make young craftsmen who can inherit this wisdom,. Boys in Baan Thasawang have been taught weaving skills by working and observing adults. They will absorb the techniques and become skillful.
