ความละเอียดอ่อน ประณีตพิถีพิถัน คือเอกลักษณ์ของงานครูอิ่ม จนกระทั่งเคยมีชาวเยอรมันมาติดต่อขอซื้อตัวครูเป็นเงินถึงห้าล้านบาทให้ไปสอนแกะหนังตะลุงที่ต่างประเทศ เวลานั้นครูคิดเพียงว่านี่เป็นสมบัติชาติ ครูไม่มีมีสิทธิ์เอาวิชาความรู้ไปขายให้ใครจึงปฏิเสธไป นานวันเข้าวิวัฒนาการสมัยใหม่เข้ามา คนเริ่มดูหนังตะลุงน้อยลง หันไปดูหนังตามโรง ไปดูโทรทัศน์ ครูก็หาทางออกเพื่อให้อายุของหนังตะลุงยืนยาวต่อไป ด้วยการสร้างหนังตะลุงเป็นของสะสม และเครื่องประดับตกแต่งอาคารบ้านเรือน งานหนังตะลุงของครูได้รับความนิยมจากลูกค้าทั้งในและต่างประเทศ ทำรายได้ให้กับคนแกะหนังมากกว่าตอนที่แกะหนังสำหรับเชิดแสดงเสียอีก ปัจจุบันครูได้สอนแกะสลักหนังให้ชาวบ้านและเด็กนักเรียนที่สนใจ โดยใช้วัดเป็นศูนย์การสอน แล้วมาสร้างเป็นศูนย์ที่ใช้ฝึกอบรมอยู่ใกล้ๆ บ้านชื่อ “ศูนย์ศิลปหัตถกรรมรูปหนังบางแก้ว”

“Though the shadow play performance is not popular nowadays, we can make the leather figures as collectibles or souvenirs for domestic sales or overseas export. It even helps us make more money than the performance.”
Delicate and elaborate work is the uniqueness of Master Im. His work has been so well-known that he was offered a job by a German to teach him leather engraving with 5 million Baht payment. At that time, the master thought that this was a national art, so he could not have taught it to foreigners. He ended up refusing that offer. When shadow play popularity became weak and replaced by movies or TV shows, the master though of conservation of shadow play by making it as collectibles and home decorations. His shadow play figures have become popular among local and international customers, and it became the profession which generates more income to the craftsmen. The master has been teaching leather engraving to interested people and students. Initially, a temple had been used as the learning place before moving to a newly constructed training center titled “Bangkaew Leather Figure Handicraft Center”.
