การใช้วัสดุเดิมที่ล้วนมาจากธรรมชาติ ถึงแม้จะมีขั้นตอนที่ยุ่งยากและใช้ระยะเวลายาวนาน แต่นี่คือความภูมิใจที่เราได้อนุรักษ์งานอันเป็นภูมิปัญญาของไทเขินเอาไว้ แรงบันดาลในการทำงานอยู่ที่ความคิดของเรา เราคิดว่างานที่ทำออกมาแล้วมันจะสวยไหม มีคุณค่าหรือไม่ อย่าไปคิดว่าจะขายได้ไหม พอคิดเรื่องธุรกิจศิลปะมันจะหายไป ไม่ว่ายุคสมัยมันจะเปลี่ยนแปลงไปอย่างไร งานของเราต้องไม่หยุดนิ่ง ขณะที่เป็นผู้ถ่ายทอดความรู้ให้แก่คนรุ่นหลัง เราเองก็ยังต้องไปเรียนเทคนิคเพิ่มทั้งในและต่างประเทศ เรานำเทคนิคใหม่ๆ มาสร้างผลงานก็เท่ากับงานเราพัฒนามาอีกขั้นไม่ได้หยุดนิ่ง และเมื่องานเครื่องเขินสามารถอยู่ได้ในชีวิตประจำวันของผู้คนแล้ว ลมหายใจของเครื่องเขินก็จะยืนยาวตลอดไปอย่างแน่นอน

“Color lacquer technique is the development to a new dimension of lacquerware which is our uniqueness. Anyone who sees it will actually know it is the laquerware of Kern Family.” We use original materials from nature. Though it is complicated and takes a long time, it is our pride to conserve Thai Kern’s wisdom. My inspiration is my thought. I keep thinking of how good my work will be and whether it is valuable. I do not think whether it will be successful. I think if we focus on business, artistic though will disappear. While the world is changing, my work must be continuously developed. When I am the teacher who gives knowledge to people, I also have to learn more technique both in Thailand and abroad to develop my work. Once lacquerware becomes part of people’s lives, it will never be forgotten.
